Important Feedback Regarding Parent Conduct During Sports Meet
30-01-2026
Dear Parent,
Greetings!
This communication is based on feedback received from our student volunteers who have been assisting during the Sports Meet over the past two days.
We are sharing the deep concern that the volunteers have expressed their unwillingness to have parents attend the Sports Day event, including their own parents, due to the experiences they have had while performing their assigned duties.
The role of the student volunteers was to ensure that the event was conducted smoothly. They repeatedly and politely requested parents to remain seated in the designated arena so as not to disturb students participating in the races. However, despite clear instructions, many parents moved out of their assigned areas to approach children—for clicking photographs, giving instructions, checking tiffins, or interacting unnecessarily although teachers were present to take care of the students.
When volunteers reminded parents of these guidelines, several parents argued with the students, behaved rudely, and in some cases used inappropriate language. Such conduct in front of students is deeply disappointing and raises serious concerns about the values being demonstrated.
Additionally:
Parents insisted on picking up children directly from the ground instead of waiting for proper dispersal.
Student-made artwork used to decorate the ground was damaged as it obstructed visibility slightly when chairs could be moved slightly for the same.
Some parents continued to argue with volunteers over race results, even after announcements clearly explained that winning depended on lane discipline, task completion, and adherence to rules—not merely crossing the finish line.
Winning is not everything, but actively participating in the event and enjoying it is what matters most. They should not regret later that they were not able to participate.
Children learn by observing the adults around them. When we display impatience, disrespect, or disregard for rules, we inadvertently teach the same to them. Our students are watching us at all times. If you disrespect the school and its management in front of the students the students will not have any respect for their teachers. We are ready to discuss all concerns with an open mind but not in front of the students.
We strongly urge all parents to encourage responsibility, respect the efforts of student volunteers, appreciate their contributions, and support the school in nurturing disciplined, respectful, and responsible citizens.
Let us work together to set the right example for our children.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Regards,
Principal,
